JAMMU, Aug 31: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Jayesh Gupta, has announced that the Dogra community of Jammu and Kashmir will soon receive justice, as the J&K High Court has rekindled their long-lost hopes of securing a Duggar Satellite Channel by accepting a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed in this regard.
In a statement released today, Jayesh emphasized that the Dogra community of J&K has been demanding the establishment of a Duggar Satellite Channel for many years. However, their appeals have consistently been overlooked by successive governments.
He pointed out that the Dogri language is included in the 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, and all other languages in the 8th Schedule have been allocated a Satellite Channel, except for Dogri. Gupta highlighted that the people of the Jammu division, along with actors, technicians, directors, and producers, have repeatedly approached the administration and government, staging numerous protests for the Duggar Satellite Channel. Despite their efforts, their pleas have fallen on deaf ears, ignored by the very public representatives they elected to power.
Frustrated by the neglect of this legitimate demand by the J&K administration, Gupta said he recently filed a PIL in the J&K High Court through his lawyer, Advocate Himanshu Beotra, calling for the establishment of a 24×7 television channel on Doordarshan (DD) dedicated to the Dogri language.
Jayesh expressed his satisfaction in sharing that the High Court of J&K and Ladakh has accepted his PIL and has issued notices to the Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Director General of Doordarshan, the Chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of India, and the Commissioner Secretary of Information, UT of J&K, seeking their response.
“The next hearing for the matter is scheduled for September 25, 2024 and I am optimistic that the Dogra community will soon have their Duggar Satellite channel, thanks to the intervention of the High Court,” the AAP leader added.
