JAMMU, Sept 1: Police today arrested a criminal with illegal firearm and ammunition from Gajansoo area of the district.

A police official said that Jeet Raj of Galwaday Chak, Tehsil Marh, district Jammu, was arrested by a team of Border Police Post Gajansoo along with a 12-bore double-barrel gun and two live cartridges concealed in his boot.
A vehicle (JK02AC-1647) used in the commission of the offence has also been seized, he said.
According to the police official, the accused, who might be involved in some illegal activities, has been booked in case FIR number 135/2024 under the relevant Sections of the Arms Act at Police Station Kanachak.
“Further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused is part of a larger criminal network,” added the police official.
Pertinently, the arrest and seizure operation was led by SHO Kanachak under the supervision of SDPO Domana and SP Rural Jammu.
