Former MLC joins AIP, party issues list of candidates

SRINAGAR, Sept 2: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC) Yasir Reshi, who recently resigned from Peoples Conference, today joined the Awami Itehaad Party led by jailed Member Parliament Abdul Rashid Sheikh alias Engineer Rashid.
Reshi is contesting polls from Sonawari constituency in Bandipora district. Two other leaders also joined the AIP include Naseer Ahmad Rather and advocate Raja Ashraf Ali Khan.
The AIP also announced a list of candidates, who will contest the upcoming Assembly elections from central Kashmir in the second phase.
The candidates include Sheikh Ashiq from Ganderbal, advocate Raja Ashraf Ali Khan from Kangan, Muhammad Maqbool Beigh from Hazratbal, Ishtiyaq Qadri from Habba Kadal, advocate Javaid Ahmad Hubbi from Chrar-e-Sharief.
The former Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCC&I) president Sheikh Ashiq who joined the party last week will take on former Chief Minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah in Ganderbal.
Ishtiyaq Qadri contesting from Habba Kadal is former firebrand Trade Union leader who joined politics after his retirement.
