RAJOURI, Sept 2: The dead body of a youth was recovered after the search of four days from the local river in Manjakote area of district Rajouri today.
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Mohd Yasir, son of Mohd Taj, a resident of Saroola village, in Tehsil Manjakote. Yasir had drowned in the local river on August 30, 2024.
After his drowning, an extensive search operation was launched, involving teams from the local police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and numerous community volunteers. These teams worked tirelessly over the past four days, extending their search as far as Rajouri, in an effort to locate the missing youth.
On the morning of September 2, Yasir’s body was finally recovered in Katarmal area of Manjakote. The successful recovery was the result of the strenuous and coordinated efforts of the SDRF, local police, and the local youth.
Following the recovery, Yasir’s body was shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) in Rajouri, where a postmortem was conducted. After completing all the necessary legal formalities, the body was handed over to his family, for the last rites.
