All prominent candidates in Phase II are multi-millionaire; BJP’s Dubey is richest

JAMMU, Sept 2: Kuldeep Raj Dubey of BJP is richest among all the prominent candidates in fray for election to the J&K Legislative Assembly, going to the polls in Phase II on September 25.

Even as Surinder Kumar Choudhary of National Conference and Qamar Hussain of PDP, who are contesting from Nowshera and Thannamandi Assembly constituencies, respectively, are also multi millionaire, BJP candidate from Reasi, Kuldeep Raj Dubey is far ahead of others in terms of having moveable and immovable assets.
As per the affidavits filed by these candidates along with the nomination papers before the Returning Officer for Election, 67-year old Kuldeep Raj Dubey has Rs 12.80 crore assets, which include at least Rs 9 crores moveable and more than Rs 3.5 crores immovable assets.
A businessman by profession and popularly known as Mangu Shah, Kuldeep Raj Dubey is Middle pass only. He has also liabilities of Rs 478.68 lakh in the form of Bank loans and credits.
The moveable assets of Dubey and his family include Rs 5.25 crores capital investment in J&K Katha Products, Jupiter Filling Station, Patta Ploura Jammu, Innova Crysta car, Maruti IGNIS, Gold and Jewels worth more than Rs 80 lakh, Rs 7.18 lakh cash in hand, around Rs 22 lakh in saving bank accounts, LIC policies, etc having gross total value of more than Rs 9 crores.
His immovable assets include Hotel Kashmir Residency in Katra, Land at SIDCO Complex Bari Brahmana, Industrial shed at Rakh Rajpura, double storied residential house at Mohinder Nagar Arnas, etc.
Former MLC Surinder Kumar Choudhary, who is contesting from Nowshera Assembly constituency as National Conference candidate, has more than Rs two crores moveable and immovable assets even as his pension and house rent are only known sources of income.
Gross total value of the moveable assets in the name of Surinder Choudhary and his wife are; Rs 70,30,970 and Rs 28,65,000, respectively. His immovable assets include agricultural land worth Rs 15 lakh at village Nonial in Nowshera, non-agricultural land worth Rs 9 lakh at Kud and residential house worth Rs 95 lakh at Nowshera. He has also liabilities of Rs 56,412 in the form of outstanding amount from Housing Loan , which he had availed from erstwhile J&K Legislative Council.
Surinder Choudhary’s educational qualification is 12th pass from J&K Board of School Education.
Qamar Hussain, PDP candidate from Thannamandi Assembly constituency and former MLA Rajouri, has more than Rs 2.79 crore moveable and immovable assets. Besides Rs 6 lakh jewellery, Rs 3.48 lakh cash and Fixed Deposits of Rs 5.27 lakh, he has immovable assets worth Rs 2.65 crores.
A Law Graduate from Jammu University and Advocate by profession, Qamar Hussain’s known sources of income are his legal practice and salary of his wife, who is a Government Teacher.
All these three candidates have no criminal record and no Police case is pending against any of them.
