REM urges Rajputs to field independent candidates from own community

JAMMU, Sept 3: Rajput Ekta Manch has appealed the community members to join hands and field independent candidates in Rajput dominated Assembly constituencies for rejecting the outsiders.
Talking to media persons, here today, president of Rajput Ekta Manch, Yashpal Manhas accused all the political parties, particularly BJP, of not giving mandate to deserving Rajput leaders in the Assembly elections.
“Even in the Rajput dominated Assembly constituencies, outsiders were preferred over the locals and competent Rajput aspirants,” he said and alleged that the community was facing discrimination for the last seven decades.
Manhas further alleged that Rajput dominated Assembly constituencies in Jammu region were intentionally kept reserved for years together so that no leader of the community could groom.
“And when de-reserved after 30 years, outsiders are being given mandate by ignoring the local Rajput aspirants,” he said while listing Khour, Raipur-Domana, Katra, Reasi, Samba as the Rajput dominated Assembly constituencies.
Yashpal Manhas particularly attacked BJP for ignoring Rajput community and reminded that the party was taught a lesson in the last Lok Sabha elections following defamatory remarks by the BJP leader Rupala.
“We appeal the entire community to join hands and field independent Rajput candidates in each Assembly constituencies so that outsiders imposed on us could be defeated,” he said.
