JAMMU, Sept 4: Income Tax Department today organized first-ever Taxpayer Outreach and Education Programme in Kargil.
The interactive seminar focused on raising awareness about the exemption provisions of the Income Tax Act particularly benefiting Scheduled Tribes, trusts, societies, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), charitable hospitals and charitable educational institutions in Ladakh.
The event, the first of its kind in Kargil, witnessed enthusiastic participation from local trusts, NGOs and representatives of charitable hospitals and educational institutions.
Under the leadership and direction of Jaishree Sharma, Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions), Manav Bansal, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions Range-1), Anirudh, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax (Exemptions, Circle-1), Chandigarh, and Vikas Sharma, Income Tax Officer (Exemptions), Jammu Ward, addressed the gathering.
The speakers elaborated on various tax exemptions available under the Income Tax Act of 1961 for trusts, societies, and NGOs, including the registration provisions and the latest amendments to the tax laws. They also took the time to engage with participants, addressing their queries and clarifying concerns about income tax provisions.
The initiative marks a significant step in enhancing the financial literacy of charitable organizations and empowering them with the knowledge to better serve their communities.
