JAMMU, Sept 5: A prominent refugee leader and social and political activist Capt (Retd) Kundan Lal Sharma along with several prominent PoK Refugees/DPs leaders from RS Pura and Jammu South demanded Congress mandate for the refugee leader Badrinath Sharma.
Addressing a joint press conference in Jammu today, Capt Kundan and other leaders made an earnest appeal to the Congress high command to give party mandate to PoK refugee leader Badrinath Sharma from RS Pura- Jammu South Assembly Constituency. He said if the Congress Party gives mandate to a candidate other than PoK refugee, it will be a huge setback for party as PoK refugees want Congress to give mandate to Badrinath Sharma having decisive support in this constituency.
Sharma highlighted that the RS Pura Assembly constituency had been reserved for over 26 years, however, with the recent delimitation; the seat has now been opened to the general category, where PoJK population is more than 42% and they have first right to be represented by a PoJK refugees in J&K Legislative Assembly and Badrinath Sharma is best choice of the community.
He pointed out that PoJK refugee community forms a substantial part of the RS Pura-Jammu South constituency and if Badrinath Sharma is given Congress mandate, he will definitely ensure Congress victory.
Sharma emphasized the need for Congress party to give mandate to PoJK Refugee Badrinath Sharma only from RS Pura Jammu South constituency, who has served this constituency for 35 years as a loyal soldier of Congress party. He maintained that if a candidate from any other constituency is forced on this constituency, prospectus of Congress party winning this seat will definitely be blurred especially when BJP has given mandate to PoJK refugee.
Capt Sharma expressed confidence that JKPCC office bearers and Party high command will not discourage PoK refugees and ensure mandate to Badrinath Sharma.
