JAMMU, Sept 5: If affidavits are to be believed, Jammu and Kashmir BJP chief and the party candidate from Nowshera Assembly constituency, Ravinder Raina is `poorest’ among all the contestants in fray for the Jammu region segments going to polls under Phase II of the scheduled Assembly elections.

While most of the BJP candidates are multi-millionaire and richer than their maximum rivals from other political parties, the J&K BJP president has no moveable or immovable assets except rupees one thousand cash.
As per the affidavits filed by him along with nomination paper before the Returning Officer for election to J&K Assembly from Nowshera constituency, Ravinder Raina has declared that except Rs 1000 cash, he has no saving or investment. Besides, Raina claims to have no land or any immovable asset.
Pertinent to mention that Ravinder Raina has remained MLA from Nowshera constituency from 2014 till dissolution of the Assembly and salary of a legislator is approximately Rs one lakh while pension of Ex-MLA is around Rs 50,000.
Though Raina has no moveable or immovable assets, he has been in occupation of Government accommodation at 13A-Gandhi Nagar Jammu. A full time politician Ravinder Raina has no source of income other than Legislator pension. His educational qualification is B Sc and PG Diploma in Human Rights and Duties.
While BJP president is apparently poorest among all the contestants, most of his party candidates from different constituencies are multi-millionaire and richer than their maximum rivals. Not only Kuldeep Raj Dubey or Chowdhary Zulfkar, even other candidates of the party are also having moveable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees.
Baldev Raj Sharma, BJP candidate from Katra Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly constituency, has Rs 20.25 crore immovable and Rs 31.14 lakh movable assets while his wife and children too have assets of more than Rs 6 crores.
BJP candidate from Poonch- Haveli, Choudhary Abdul Ghani has Rs 8.63 crore immovable and Rs 41.14 lakh movable assets. Mohd Iqbal Malik, BJP candidate from Thannamandi and former Deputy Commissioner, has moveable and immovable assets worth Rs 1.79 crores while his wife also has almost equal worth of assets.
Vibod Gupta, BJP candidate from Rajouri constituency, has Rs 2.10 crore moveable and 27.36 lakh immovable assets while his wife has Rs 1.92 crore moveable and Rs 65.82 lakh movable assets. Mohd Akram, BJP candidate from Gulabgarh Assembly constituency has Rs 8.05 crore immovable assets.
Former Minister and Independent candidate from Katra Mata Vaishno Devi Assembly constituency, Jugal Kishore Sharma is among the richest contestants in fray for the elections. He has Rs 15.93 crore self created immovable and Rs 59.04 crore movable assets while his wife has Rs 7.17 crore immovable and Rs 83.72 lakh movable assets.
Former Minister Aijaz Ahmad Khan, son of Late Haji Buland Khan, who is contesting as Independent candidate from Gulabgarh, has Rs 3.5 crore movable and immovable assets while his wife also has around Rs 3 crore assets.
Aijaz Khan’s brother and former MLA Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, who is Congress candidate from Reasi, has Rs 1.5 crore assets while his wife has Rs 2.85 crore assets.
Bhupinder Singh, who is contesting from Katra Mata Vaishno Devi seat on Congress mandate, has Rs 6.53 crore movable and Rs 2.40 crore immovable assets. He is also among the few candidates who has criminal record and two case FIRs registered against him at Katra Police Station.
Mohd Shahnawaz Choudhary, DDC and Congress candidate from Surankote, has Rs 3 crores immovable and Rs 23.57 lakh movable assets while Iftkar Ahmed, Congress candidate from Rajouri, has Rs 2.5 crore movable and immobile assets. Former minister and Congress candidate from Thanamandi, Shabir Ahmad Khan has Rs 1.5 crore assets.
Former MLA and NC candidate from Mendhar, Javed Ahmad Rana, has Rs 3.76 crore movable and immobile assets while his wife has Rs 4.2 crore assets. Javed Iqbal Choudhary, NC candidate from Budhal, has 6.98 crore immovable assets and Rs 1.87 crore movable assets. His wife, who is DDC, has Rs 1.59 crore immovable and Rs 52,76 lakh movable assets. Khursheed Ahmed, National Conference candidate from Gulabgarh, has Rs 70.50 lakh immovable and Rs 74.78 lakh movable assets while his wife Rs 77.18 lakh immovable and Rs 16.56 lakh movable assets.
Former MLA, Shah Mohd Tantray, who is J&K Apni Party candidate from Poonch Haveli, has Rs 1.5 crore assets while Nadeem Ahmad Khan, PDP candidate from Mendhar and son of former MLA Rafiq Hussain Khan, has Rs 3.42 crore assets.
