Pensioners for enhancement of Medical Allowance

SRINAGAR, Sept 5: A meeting of Pensioners & Senior Citizens Welfare Society of J&K was held under the chairmanship of its president, Mir Gh Rasool Botvani where in thread bear discussions were held on various issues.
In the meeting it was said that Central Government have recently approved Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) instead of NPS (New Pension Scheme ) to be applicable from 01.04.2025 in favour of employee’s / pensioners of all over country which is a good step but still there are some discrepancies and appealed to Central Government to implement Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in full so that employees and pensioners may not feel annoyed by any small discrepancy .
Further they also welcomed to the LG administration of Ladakh for grant of other due benefits after increase of 50% DA to it’s employees and enhancement of Medical Allowance from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 to its pensioners with effect from 01.04.2020.
The meeting urged to the Central Government as well as LG administration of J&K for providing all benefits including enhancement of Medical Allowance to Rs 1000 w.e.f 01.04.2020 by giving similar treatment which has been given by LG Ladakh to its employees and pensioners.
It was stated that employees and pensioners of J&K are always been discriminated and orders are issued after hue and cry when there should be similar treatment which is applicable to all employees and pensioners all over India.
They also appealed for enhancement of pension @5%, 10%, & 15% from the age of 65, 70 and 75 years in favour of pensioners of J&K as Central Government and various States have already approved such enhancement which may be justice with pensioners.
The meeting was attended by Sheikh Gh Mohiuddin Shilvati, general secretary, D N Sadhu State secretary and other members who stated that pensioners are being harassed in some Treasuries of Bandipora district who are going for physical verification and appealed the administration that they should be given due regard and respect being senior citizens while conducting of physical verification.
