Usman Majid unveils election manifesto for Assembly polls

SRINAGAR, Sept 8: Former Minister and MLA of Bandipora, Usman Majid, has unveiled his election manifesto for the Assembly elections, focusing on employment, infrastructure development and social inclusivity.
Majid emphasized that his plans were shaped by extensive consultations with local communities to address their key concerns. A major highlight of the manifesto is the promise to improve connectivity through the construction of a four-lane highway from Srinagar to Bandipora and the introduction of rail connectivity to the region. He also pledged to establish a Government Medical College and a Women’s Degree College in Bandipora, alongside a district library and an indoor sports stadium.
His economic plans include creating a fruit mandi with cold storage facilities, establishing an industrial estate, and attracting investment to build an IT park to generate jobs for the local youth. Infrastructure projects like a bypass road in Bandipora town, construction of a Gurez-Bandipora tunnel and improvements to key roads are also part of his vision.
Women’s empowerment remains a key focus of his manifesto, with promises to open vocational training centers and improve school facilities for girls. The manifesto also includes the construction of fire stations, better healthcare services in remote villages, and enhanced water supply.
Majid stressed his dedication to tourism, pledging to promote Bandipora and Gurez as major destinations and to develop eco-friendly infrastructure around Wular Lake. He also committed to supporting socially disadvantaged communities and ensuring communal harmony in the region.
In his fifth bid for election, Majid reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to the people of Bandipora, highlighting his history of inclusivity and service to the constituency.
