‘Natrang’ stages play ‘Antraal Ke Baad’

JAMMU, Sept 8: Theatre group ‘Natrang’ here today staged Hindi play ‘Antraal Ke Baad’ written by Pratap Sehgal and directed by Neeraj Kant.
The play is based on a widow, who takes a career break to take care of her new born baby and when time comes, gets the empty nest syndrome in reciprocation.
The play opens with Manju waiting for her son ‘Gaurav’ on a thunderous rainy night and calls her husband’s friend ‘Suresh’ to fetch him. But, in the meanwhile Gaurav arrives and tells her mother about the scholarship he got from California University for higher studies and research work but Manju is reluctant to send him abroad.
In the next scene, Manju’s friend ‘Deepa’ is seen convincing her to let Gaurav go abroad but the emotional mother says that after a span of time moral values change.
She also tells her that when Gaurav was only a year old, she too was offered a scholarship by the University for Higher Studies, which she refused for the sake of her child.
After two years, Manju’s husband ‘Madhur’ died in a road accident and Madhur’s friend Suresh offered a marriage proposal to her which she refused. And now the lonely mother does not want to let her son go abroad but Gaurav without caring for her mother’s sentiments takes a flight to California.
Artists who performed in the play were Kushal Bhat, Kanan Preet Kour, Vrinda Gujral, Aadesh Dhar and Mihir Gujral.
Lights were designed and operated by Neeraj Kant Sharma, music was scored by Palshin Dutta and the show was coordinated by Mohd Yaseen.
