Islamabad, Sept 9: Pakistan Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar questioned International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) intentions and criticised the organisation for deliberately delaying the release of funds after the Pakistan Democratic Movement came to power, media reports said.
Speaking at a defence event in London organised by Pakistani Overseas Foundation, Dar stated that the IMF purposely wants Pakistan to be at default as all the reviews have been completed but still the disbursement of funds has not been done by the organisation, Dawn reported.
According to Dawn, Dar highlighted the importance of timely disbursement of funds for the development of the country and economy. IMF’s actions have raised concerns about their agenda and its impact on economic stability of the country, he said.
A statement released by the High Commission said, Dar briefed British MPs on reforms undertaken in Pakistan and emphasised on the need for better relations between both the two nations.
