Srinagar, Sept 9: High Court directed the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar to hear and decide the appeal of former Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) Junaid Azeem Mattu against his eviction from the Government accommodation situated at Church Lane here.
Justice Moksha Kazmi disposed of the plea of Mattu with the direction to the DC Srinagar to hear the parties and conclude the proceedings and decide the appeal pending before him by tomorrow.
“The copy of the decision shall be provided to the counsel for the appellant on the same day, enabling him to work out his remedy. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the main case”, Justice Kazmi ordered.
Mattu in his petition challenged the notices issued by the Deputy Director Estates Department Srinagar for eviction of the Government accommodation presently used by him.
Petitioner was seeking quashing of eviction notices and continuation of possession of the accommodation in question which the court did not grant and directed the DC Srinagar to decide his appeal by tomorrow.
