JAMMU, Apr 16: Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Front (JKDF) State president and candidate for Doda-Udhampur Parliamentary constituency Anil Gupta has condemned the action of Returning Officer (Deputy Commissioner, Kathua) for using force to disperse the polling agents of JKDF.
Addressing a press conference, Gupta said their polling agents were taking part in close door training session and were being imparting training for the smooth conduct of polling to be held for Udhampur constituency tomorrow, which is permissible under Election Commission rules. But Returning Officer (RO) used forces to disperse the people and humiliated them by frisking everyone, he added.
He alleged that RO by misusing his power and office has acted on the instruction of NC-Congress coalition to tarnish the image of JKDF to give the undue advantage to ruling coalition candidate ahead of the polls for the constituency.
JKDF took strong note of this incident and would lodge a formal complaint in this regard with Election Commission, he added.
