SRINAGAR, Sept 9: In a significant political development in Ganderbal, former National Conference leader, Ghulam Ahmad Saloora is joining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) this week.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti is scheduled to visit Saloora’s residence in the coming days to formalize his induction into the party.
Saloora, who recently parted ways with Jammu and Kashmir United Movement (JKUM) just a few weeks ago, has been a prominent political figure in Ganderbal. Before his brief stint with JKUM, he was affiliated with the National Conference (NC) for over 40 years. His long-standing association with NC has earned him considerable influence in the constituency.
Saloora told Excelsior that he is in touch with the PDP leadership including PDP district president and its Ganderbal candidate, Bashir Ahmad Mir and discussions with PDP president Mehbooba Mufti are in advanced stage.
The move will give a push to the PDP in Ganderbal ahead of voting that is in the last week of September.
