Sale of Ghee brand ‘Variya’ banned in Jammu

JAMMU, Sept 10: Designated Officer Food Safety, District Jammu Rural has ordered prohibition of the sale of Ghee brand ‘Variya’ with immediate effect as sample of the same was found substandard and unsafe.
Food Safety Officer block Sohanjana, district Jammu had lifted a sample of the Ghee brand Variya (200ml) (Batch No: VY-001), manufactured by the firm M/s Verona Products (P) Ltd- Plot no -4 survey no. 230-B/h Sahakari Mandali – Veraval (Shapar)- 360024 (Gujarat) -India Lic. No: 10716019000147.
Food analyst National Food Laboratory, Ghaziabad declared the sample of the Ghee as substandard and unsafe.
As FBO challenged the report of NFL Ghaziabad and made an appeal for re-analysis, sample of the said Ghee was then sent to Referral Food Laboratory Kolkata. The Director RFL Kolkata also declared the sample of said Ghee as ‘Substandard and Unsafe’.
Now in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 36(3) (b), Ajay Khajuria, Designated Officer Food Safety, Jammu Rural, ordered prohibiting the sale of said Ghee brand Variya (200ml) with immediate effect in the interest of general public health.
