JAMMU, Sept 10: With an aim to supplement theoretical knowledge with real-world insights, The Law School, University of Jammu (JU), organized a court visit for its 6th-semester students. This experiential endeavor aimed at prioritizing practical experience and fostering a deeper understanding of the legal landscape.
Students engaged in an immersive observation of civil and criminal proceedings, witnessing first-hand the dynamics of courtroom interactions, judicial decision-making, and legal advocacy. They also interacted with practicing lawyers, gaining practical tips and invaluable advice on navigating the legal profession.
A memorable highlight was an interactive session with District Judge Haqnawaz Zargar, Anti-Corruption Court, Jammu, who emphasized the significance of hard work, punctuality, honesty and consistency in achieving success in the legal field. This mentorship opportunity inspired students to adopt these values in their future careers.
Furthermore, students attended High Court proceedings, specifically in the courts presided over by Justice Sanjeev Kumar and Justice Sindhu Sharma, providing a unique opportunity to observe experienced judges in action.
The visit was coordinated by Dr Rajneesh Khajuria, Dr Pallvi Mathavan Puri, Dr Mool Raj and D Nitan Sharma, faculty members of The Law School.
“By prioritizing practical experience, this immersive experience will undoubtedly shape the students’ perspectives on the legal profession and inspire them to become competent, ethical and practice-ready legal professionals,” said Dr Seema Rohmetra, Director, The Law School.
