KISHTWAR, Sept 14: The District Election Officer (DEO) Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan today chaired a meeting with SVEEP team & Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the district to assess the election preparedness.
During the session, the DEO underscored the pivotal role of BLOs in the election process, emphasizing their responsibility as the ground-level facilitators. He highlighted the importance of BLOs ensuring maximum voter participation, especially from absentee voters, who have often been unable to cast their votes due to various reasons.
The DEO emphasized BLOs to personally engage with absentee voters of the last election and work closely to facilitate their visit to the polling stations on polling day. He also said that good performers will be rewarded.
DEO further emphasized that the voters’ slip distribution process should be completed promptly so that voters face no inconvenience during the polling day and can cast their vote in smoother manner. He encouraged BLOs to intensify their activities under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign.
The DEO urged all BLOs to remain fully prepared for the upcoming election, assuring them of the district administration’s full support. “Our focus is on ensuring 100% voter’s participation, and every BLO is a crucial part of this mission”, he added.
Meanwhile, the officers and officials, who are on election duty in district Kishtwar, but belonging to different districts of UT of J&K falling in first phase of poll, casted their votes in advance through the postal ballot. These officials belong to districts of Doda, Ramban, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Kulgam.
The postal ballot process was conducted under the supervision of the District Collector (DC)/District Election Officer Kishtwar Rajesh Kumar Shavan, who also polled vote at the  facilitation Centre set up in District Administrative Complex. Senior officers including ADC, ACR, ACD, CPO and other employees/officials in Kishtwar, but belonging to these districts, also joined the DC in the voting process.
While interacting with some people outside the facilitation centre, the DEO urged voters to actively participate in the elections on September 18 and exercise their right to vote. He informed that elaborate arrangements have been meticulously finalized for home voting for elderly voters, Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), and other eligible categories under the ECI’s guidelines.
