KARGIL, Sept 14: The Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) of LAHDC Kargil, Dr Mohammad Jaffer Akhoon, today inaugurated the newly built PWD guest house at Pipiting in Zanskar.
A statement said that the project, completed under the State Sector scheme, costs Rs 3 crore.
It said that Dr Akhoon also laid the foundation for the beautification and upgradation of Khar Yokma Zangla, a project worth Rs 3.5 crore under the District Capex Plan.
He expressed optimism that these developments would enhance tourism and congratulated the local residents and the Queen of Zangla.
The CEC emphasized the Council’s focus on regional development and urged timely completion with an emphasis on quality. He praised Executive Councillor Punchok Tashi for his efforts in securing the project.
Addressing local demands, Dr Akhoon directed the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of a boundary wall for the local monastery, a community hall, and a prayer hall.
He also ordered the Deputy Commissioner, Kargil, to send a Horticulture Officer to evaluate Zanskar’s potential for horticulture.
Executive Councillor Tashi also congratulated the villagers and reaffirmed the Hill Council’s commitment to accelerating development in the area.
