SRINAGAR, Sept 15 : Police today launched a formal investigation following a distressing incident involving a woman from Kakapora, who was allegedly forced to consume a poisonous substance by her husband.
According to the victim’s statement recorded earlier today, the incident took place after her husband served her a divorce notice a few days ago. The woman was immediately provided with medical assistance, and her statement has become central to the ongoing investigation.
A police spokesman said that in addition to the victim’s account, a written application was also received today from her brother, Mudasir Ahmad Pinchu, of Khanabal Anantnag naming Manzoor Ahmad Fashu son of Ghulam Mohammad Fashu, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar son In Law of Ghulam Mohamad Fashu and Nawaz Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rahem Dar, all residents of Kakapora.
Based on this information, Pulwama Police have taken cognizance of the case and registered FIR No. 32/2024 under sections 85, 109, and 49 of the BNS Act. The investigation has been set in motion, although no arrests have been made as of yet, he said.
