POONCH, Sept 16: A 22-years-old youth drowned in Suran river in Dhundak area of Surankote tehsil in Poonch district last evening.
Official sources said that a youth was bathing in Suran river at Dhundak. While taking bath he slipped into deep water and drowned in the river. After coming to know about the incident locals and other rescue teams reached the spot but the dead body could not be traced after long search.
Today morning the locals and family members staged protest alleging that rescue teams were not working properly. Later, senior civil and police officers also reached the spot.
Pertinent to mention that dead body was today recovered in the evening with the efforts of locals. The deceased was identified as Shafqat Hussain, son of Kabir Hussain, resident of Dhunduk, Surankote. Officials said that body was handed over to family for last rites after performing legal formalities.
