Mir appeals migrants to vote for Cong on Sept 18 poll

JAMMU, Sept 16: Congress candidate and former Minister, Ghulam Ahmed Mir today appealed the Kashmiri migrant voters of his Dooru constituency in South Kashmir district of Anantnag to cast their vote in his favour on September 18 Assembly elections.
Mir said his party is committed to welfare of migrants besides their honourable and dignified return to the Valley of Kashmiri where from they were forced to leave due to abnormal situation over three decades back.
He highlighted the welfare measures taken for the migrants by the Congress Government led by Dr Manmohan Singh at Delhi which constructed over 4000 flats at Jammu to shift the migrants residing in dingy one room tenements in these flats, sanctioned 6000 job package for migrant youth in Kashmir, constructed colonies for these employees in Valley besides enhancing their monthly relief from time to time.
Mir assured that if elected he will strive hard in providing all basic facilities to his KP brethren living in camps at Jammu and other parts of country besides, work for their honourable and dignified return to Kashmir Valley.
Meanwhile, Chairman PCC Migrant Cell and senior party leader, Hira Lal Pandita also appealed the migrant voters of Dooru constituency to vote in favour of Ghulam Ahmed Mir who has always worked for the cause of Kashmir Pundits and strengthening the inter community bond.
Pandita said Congress believes in basic principles of secularism and it is committed to welfare of all communities irrespective of their caste creed and colour. He expressed the hope that Kashmir migrants will cast their vote on September 18 in support of Congress candidates.
