JAMMU, Sept 17: An impressive procession on the occasion of Eid-e- Milad un Nabi -the birthday of Prophet Mohammad was taken out here today in which large number of members of Muslim community participated.
The processionists mostly attired in white dresses were carrying religious flags in their hands and raising slogans in praise of Prophet Mohammad and Islam. They greeted each other enroute. Some processionsits were riding on highly decorated horse backs.
The procession started from Ambphalla and culminated at Janipur where religious discourses were delivered by Islamic scholars. They highlighted the teachings of Prophet Mohammad for mankind.
The processions were also taken out in other parts of Jammu city and its outskirts including Sidhrah and Sunjwan.
Talking to reporters Mehmood Rizwi a Muslim scholar highlighted the significance of the day in Islam. He said the day is celebrated as birthday of prophet of Islam with full religious fervour and gaiety across the world. He said Islam has given the message of peace, love and brotherhood.
Rizwi complimented the administration and police for providing all cooperation and basic facilities in taking out the religious procession today. “We are thankful to both administration and police for providing basic necessities for taking out the peaceful procession on this holy day,” he added.
Eid Milad un Nabi was also celebrated in other parts of Jammu region including, Poonch, Mendhar, Surankote, Rajouri, Thannamandi, Doda, Reasi, Kishtwar, Bhadarwah, Banihal, Bani and Billawar with full religious fervour and gaiety.
