There was great enthusiasm among all the categories of voters in Kishtwar, Inderwal and Paddar Assembly segments about participation in the battle of ballots and each and every voter, who was approached by EXCELSIOR, wanted to have such a Government in the Union Territory which will give big blow to all those who are directly or indirectly making attempts to revive and support militancy.
Their concern was based on the recent terror incidents taken place in Kishtwar district and reports about the presence of certain terrorists. “We have suffered a lot because of insurgency and now when developmental journey is going on smoothly, we don’t want any sort of interruption”, they added.
“We can continue reaping the benefits of development only when there is peace and secured atmosphere everywhere in the district. So, we wish the first ever elected Government in the Union Territory to have the guts to giving crushing defeat to anti-national elements and their sympathizers”, said Arpan, who exercised his democratic right at Atholi Polling Station in Paddar.
Without naming anybody, he said, “there are certain elements who are unable to digest the peace in the district and want to disturb the atmosphere for their own gains as such only strong Government can take them to the task”, adding “as far as development is concerned, majority of the areas in Paddar are presently having road connectivity, power supply, mobile network and healthcare facilities, which were denied to us for decades by the erstwhile Governments in Jammu and Kashmir”.
Another voter Pawan Kumar, who exercised democratic right in Bidda Polling Station in Nagseni area of Paddar, said, “at present the main concern for each and every citizen is that peace should prevail at any cost and we all have voted by keeping this aspect in mind. We are happy with the development that has taken place in our area during the past some years and if this pace continues uninterruptedly our area will match with urban areas on the developmental front”.
He was supported by several other voters, who exercised their democratic right at Bidda Polling Station. “We want people-friendly Government and not the one which will discriminate with the people and the regions/sub-regions”, they added.
One Jeet Lal, who was waiting for casting his vote at a Polling Station in Kuntwara area of Kishtwar Assembly segment, expressed similar views and said, “we have seen so many Governments in the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir but justice was always denied to us on all the fronts”, adding “it is only during the past some years that we have started realizing what the development is”.
“Now, we have proper road connectivity to different areas, healthcare facilities and other basic amenities but benefits of developmental works reach people only when there is peace and secured atmosphere as such we have voted to have such a Government, which while being tough towards those who make attempts to vitiate peace, will keep on pushing the developmental activities”, said Sanjeet of Bonjwah in Inderwal Assembly segment.
Some of the elderly voters said, “every politician must understand the nerve of the people and work accordingly as ultimately the power lies in the votes. Personal benefits should not be given weightage over the benefits of the people”, adding “people have seen so many changes on every front during the past few years as such their verdict will be shocking for certain politicians this time”.
