KALABURGI, Sept 19 : Karnataka Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan on Thursday stated that the display of Palestinian flags is justified following the Union government’s support for Palestine.
“The Union government has expressed its support for Palestine, so there is nothing wrong in holding and moving around with the Palestinian flag,” he said here, asserting that the actions reflect the government’s stance on the Palestinian cause.
Zameer emphasised that while waving the Palestinian flag is acceptable, raising slogans in support of other nations is not. “Those who indulge in such acts are anti-nationals. They should be hanged,” he asserted, underscoring the need to distinguish between patriotic and unpatriotic expressions.
His remarks come amid police actions against the youth detained for displaying Palestinian flags and pro-Palestine posters.
In response to comments from State BJP President Vijayendra Yediyurappa regarding the potential resignation of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Zameer confidently defended the Chief Minister, declaring, “Siddaramaiah is a tiger; no one can cause any harm to him.”
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed that arrests had been made in connection with the flag displays, noting that the detainees, aged between 17 and 21 years, claimed their actions were influenced by the Union government’s support for Palestine. (UNI)
