LEH, Sept 21: Lieutenant Governor (LG) Ladakh, Brigadier (Dr.) B.D Mishra (Retd) here today attended the inaugural function of Ladakh Festival 2024 at Polo Ground.
Expressing his happiness for participating in the Ladakh Festival in which a large number of tourists are also taking part, the LG stated that the Festival is a grand occasion meant to preserve Ladakh’s rich culture, traditions, heritage, good practices and the fragile environment.
He emphasised the importance of leaving lasting good memories for tourists and need for the people engaged in the tourism industry, particularly the youth, to take inspiration to preserve Ladakh’s rich culture, heritage and take it forward to better it.
Highlighting the importance of tourism industry in Ladakh, the LG emphasised the need to improve home-stays, trekking routes, adventure sports and other tourist activities to ensure a better experience for both domestic and foreign tourists.
He commended Chairman/CEC LAHDC Leh, Executive Councillors/Councillors and district officials for working in tandem with each other to promote tourism in Ladakh.
The LG complimented cultural troupes, artists, officials and stakeholders engaged in making the Ladakh Festival 2024 a success and hoped to see next year’s Ladakh Festival being celebrated with more participation of people with better facilities for tourists.
Earlier, Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Vikram Singh Malik welcomed the guests.
Artists and cultural troupes performed Shondol and Chhabskyan dance during the inaugural function.
