The NC Vice President was responding to recent comments by the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, who stated that no stone pelters or terrorists would be released in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Everyone has the right to prove their innocence and be released from jail. I want to know if the legal procedures for those arrested have been followed. Have their cases begun? Have the courts proven their offenses? How many people have had allegations or crimes proven against them in court?” Omar asked.
He reiterated that the majority of prisoners are still awaiting trial. “I believe we should reconsider the situation for those whose cases have not yet begun,” he added.
Omar also highlighted the challenges faced by the region over the last six years. “Monthly electricity bills are no less than Rs 2000 – Rs 2500,” he said.
He added that unemployment has reached a record high in Jammu and Kashmir, and the condition of roads is poor. “Our youth, our brothers and sisters, are sitting at home unemployed. There is no arrangement for their employment,” he said.
Omar promised voters that the NC would address these issues if voted into power. “Whether it is inflation, unemployment, high electricity bills, or restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, we will solve all your problems,” he said.
