JAMMU, Sept 24: Lambasting the BJP for betraying the people of Jammu and Kashmir in general and Jammu region in particular, former Minister and Congress candidate for RS Pura-Jammu South Assembly constituencies, Raman Bhalla cautioned the people against deceitful tactics of the Saffron Party during the elections.
Addressing a series of public meetings in RS Pura Market, Rangpur Basti, Gagian, Kullian, Ban Sultan, Lower Barjala, Nandwal, Simbal, and Rakh Bandu areas of the Jammu South Assembly segment, Bhalla recalled that in 2014 Assembly elections people of Jammu region had voted overwhelmingly in favour of the BJP but the leaders of the Saffron Party have backstabbed the people and ignored wishes and aspirations of the masses.
“The BJP leaders are again indulging in their deceitful tactics to befool the masses during elections”, Bhalla cautioned and exhorted the voters of RS Pura-Jammu South to teach BJP a lesson for playing with their emotions and cheating them during the last 10 years with their anti-Jammu decisions.
“During the election campaign, BJP leaders are promising the moon to the people but for the last 10 years, they did nothing to solve basic problems of the common masses”, the Congress leader said and added that for the last 10 years, BJP has been ruling Jammu and Kashmir directly or indirectly.
“Instead of making promises to the people, BJP leaders should come out with a report card of their 10 years achievements”, he said, adding, “the only achievement of BJP is to make J&K, especially Jammu region, a hub of drugs”
Bhalla comes down hard on the BJP, accusing them of trying to erase Jammu and Kashmir’s identity and uniqueness.
He asserted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are eager to teach BJP a lesson for their deceitful tactics, which have demonized and disempowered them socially, culturally, and economically.
Bhalla emphasized that the BJP’s efforts to salvage their dwindling support won’t work, citing their attempts to downgrade Jammu and Kashmir from a State to a Union Territory and stop the Darbar Move, a tradition that boosts the economy and is an integral part of J&K’s heritage.
He urged the people to support the Congress party in developing a prosperous and peaceful Jammu and Kashmir.
