JAMMU, July 3: Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPs) has strongly condemned the statement of hardliner Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani whom it described as self styled Pakistani ambassador in Kashmir.
In a statement issued here today the KP Sabha said the vehemence in the language used by this so called leader speaks volumes about the mindset of separatists who were responsible for the mass exodus of Pandits from their motherland after making selective killings of the minorities in Valley.
However the Sabha thanked Geelani for endorsing the views expressed by KP community in exile for last 22 years that we were hounded away by the threats given by Kashmiri separatists, militants and terrorists.
Lambasting the state and Central Governments the KPS said that Governments appeasement policies toward separatists have embolden Geelani to make such a statement.
The terms and conditions for the return of KPs will be set by the community and not by those who hounded us form Valley and no power on earth can dictate terms to us and stall our return, the statement said, adding the Pandits will decide about their return with honour and dignity on their own terms and conditions and separatists should understand that world opinion is against them now and minorities political rights can’t be suppressed.
The KP Sabha, president and Apex Committee member, K K Khosa said that all organizations should put up united face against such undemocratic utterances and threats of self styled leaders.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chief Kundan Kashmiri while strongly condemning the statement of Geelani said that no power one earth can deny Pandits a separate place in Valley for their rehabilitation as the statement of separatist leader makes it clear that fundamentalists in Kashmir are not only responsible for the mass exodus of Pandits but are creating hurdles in their return also.
Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) has taken serious exception to Geelani’s statement that Pandits rehabilitation should not be made in safer zones and they be settled in ancestral places.
The YAIKS, which held a meeting under the chairmanship of R K Bhat, its president and member Apex Committee while criticizing the statement of Mr Geelani said Geelani being himself an outsider whose ancestors have come from Geelan and hence he has no right to dictate terms to Pandits the aborigines of Kashmir.
