JAMMU, July 3: The general body election of Mohalla Welfare Committee, Sharika Vihar (of four sectors) was held here in the premises of Sharika Mata Temple, Sharika Vihar, Lower Roop Nagar for the posts of president, vice-president and general secretary.
The election was conducted through secret ballot paper. A total of 250 voters cast their vote. One member from each house was allowed to vote.
Soon after the completion of election, the counting of votes was done in which Parshotem Singh Pathania was declared elected as president as he got 126 votes and defeated his opponent Rakesh Khajuria by 16 votes. KK Kak with 126 votes was declared as vice-president as he beat his rival candidate Rohit Sharma by seven votes. Romesh Lal Sharma with 136 votes claimed the post of general secretary. He thrashed his opponent Anil Gupta with 41 votes.
After the declaration of results, HK Nazar was unanimously elected by the public as Chairman of the Committee.
Rest of the members of the executive body will be nominated soon, said general secretary of the Committee.
The whole election process took place under the observation of election authority comprises of HK Nazar, Rakesh Gupta, Ramesh Pandita, Kuldeep Khajuria and Kaka Ji and remained peaceful.
