VIJAYPUR, Sept 29: On the last day of campaigning ahead of the much-anticipated Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial president of National Conference (NC), urged the people of J&K to give a befitting reply to the BJP for its divisive and unproductive agenda that has caused unprecedented hardships to the people over the past decade.
Addressing a massive rally comprising of scores of vehicles in favour of Rajesh Padgotra, contesting candidate from Vijaypur Assembly constituency today, the senior NC leader highlighted the complete failure of BJP-led Government in J&K, stating, “For the last 10 years, the BJP has done nothing for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Instead, the people have been deprived of basic amenities. The region is grappling with high unemployment, unchecked inflation, recruitment scams, inflated power bills, and the unchecked menace of the mining and liquor mafia. To make matters worse, local jobs are being handed over to outsiders, further marginalizing the youth of J&K” he added.
Gupta emphasized that the time has come for the people to take a decisive stand against the BJP’s hollow promises and policies that have led to widespread discontent. “It is imperative for the people to vote for National Conference candidates if they want to secure a better future for the next generation. The BJP’s divisive politics has only deepened the sense of alienation among the people of J&K. This election is not just about a change of Government, but about the future of our children,” he added.
He claimed that NC is committed to provide 1 lakh jobs to youth, implementation of J&K Youth Employment Generation Act within three months, 12 LPG cylinders free of cost to EWS, free travelling of women in all public transport, enhancement of marriage assistance from Rs 50000 to Rs 75000, increase of medical allowance of pensioners to Rs 1000 from Rs 300, Minority Commission to be established, PDS to be strengthened, etc.
Israr Khan (Retd DIG), senior NC leader and Incharge constituency, appealed to the people to rise to the occasion and make their voices heard. “This election is a critical turning point for our future. It is time to take a stand and make a decision that will shape the destiny of Jammu and Kashmir for the years to come. Vote for progress, unity, and the future of the next generation-vote for National Conference.”
