Police arrests 4 drug peddlers, seizes 56 grams of heroin

SAMBA, Sept 29: Continuing its drive against drug smugglers and their propagators, police has arrested four drug peddlers and recovered approximately 56 grams of heroin from their possession in the jurisdiction of Police Station (PS) Samba.
Police said a police party of Police Post (PP) Supwal under SHO, PS Samba while performing vehicle checking duty at Naka NHW Supwal, intercepted a truck bearing Registration Number, JK13D/5061 enroute Punjab for checking. During checking, heroin (chitta) worth Rs 16.80 lacs INR approximately was recovered from the possession of four persons who were boarding the truck.
All the four accused persons have been arrested and the contraband item was also seized. The accused have been identified as Mohammad Aqib Bhat, son of Mohammad Amin Bhat of Qamarwari Parimpora Srinagar, Mohammad Imran Mantoo, son of Abdul Ahad Mantoo of Chandgam tehsil and district Pulwama, Sahil Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid Sheikh of Tumlahall tehsil and district Pulwama and Fayaz Ahmed Dar son of Ghulam Mohd Dar of Tengpora tehsil and district Pulwama.
A case FIR No. 257/2024 U/S 8/21/22/25/29 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Samba and further investigation is going on to unearth backward/forward linkages in narco smuggling, police said.
