Educational institutions celebrate Gandhi Jayanti

JAMMU, Sept 30: Different educational institutions here today celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and organized various programmes to remember Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri Ji.
K.C College of Education celebrated Gandhi Jayanti and organized a cleanliness drive at Arya Public School, Kachi Chawni, Jammu in which students and staff of the K.C College participated. The drive was held under the aegis of NSS wing of the College wherein senior faculty member Priya Gupta, Programme Officer of NSS unit along with Rita Jamwal, another faculty member accomplished the drive under the guidance of Dr. Sanjay Tickoo, Principal of the College.
On Gandhi Jayanti, the Gandhian Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies at GGM Science College, Jammu, organized a series of events. The broad theme for the activities was ‘Gandhian Philosophy of Non-Violence and Truth’. The events included a seminar, slogan writing competition, essay writing competition, devotional singing and reel-making activities. The entire event was organized under the patronage of Principal, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta and Convenor of the Centre, Dr. Seema Gandotra. Coordination for the event was done by Dr. Shalini Sharma, Prof. Sunita Kumari and Prof. Mehnaz Bano.
The month-long celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti concluded at Government Degree College Ghagwal with a series of events organized under the guidance of the Principal, Dr. Sujata Slathia and led by NSS Programme Officer, Dr. Vani Awasthi. The celebrations began with screening of documentaries ‘Swachhata Hi Seva Hai’ and ‘Seva Se Seekhein’. A signature campaign was launched as part of the ‘Swachhata’ initiative. Dr. Bavita and Nisha along with Dr. Vani Awasthi played key roles in organizing various activities. On this occasion tribute were paid to Mahatma Gandhi.
NSS unit of GDC Ramnagar organized slogan writing and essay writing competitions as a part of weeklong activities to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti on the theme ‘Philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi for future sustainability’ under the guidance of Dr. Bhavnaish Chand, Principal GDC Ramnagar. The event was coordinated by Prof. Ritika Mahajan, NSS Programme Officer.
To commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, Drug De-addiction Committee in collaboration with Bhrashtachar Mukt Committee of GDC R.S Pura organized a debate competition on ‘Vision of Mahatma Gandhi for drug free India’. Convener Drug De-addiction Committee, Prof. Neelam Kumari delivered welcome address and the whole event was organized under the guidance of Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr. Raj Jamwal, HoD Hindi Department. Meanwhile, Department of English organized symposium on theme ‘Truth and Non-Violence’ under the patronage of Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour and supervision of Dr. Neena Gupta Rohmetra, Head Department of English and Convener, Debate and Seminar Committee of GDC R.S Pura. Dr. Kiran Pathania, Assistant Professor in Department of English coordinated the event.
On Gandhi Jayanti, Cultural Committee of GDC Marheen displayed a documentary depicting the philosophy and ideology of Gandhi Ji. The event was organized under the patronage of Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Anupama Gupta. Faculty members present in the programme were Prof. Sandeep Chaudhary, Dr. Munisha Devi and Prof. Manu Saini.
Delhi Public School, Kathua celebrated Gandhi and Shastri Jayanti with great enthusiasm. Young students carried vibrant placards featuring slogans that promoted Swachh Bharat. The event, conceptualized by Chief Coordinator Rimjhim Wazir and Kindergarten Coordinator Jyoti Katoch, was meticulously planned to ensure that the students could actively engage in the activities while learning important life lessons. Principal Vivek Arora emphasized the significance of following the ideals of Gandhi Ji and Shastri Ji.
