Bus catches fire, pilgrims escape unhurt

KATRA, Oct 4: The passengers including most of Mata Vaishnodevi pilgrims had miraculous escape after a Jammu bound bus caught fire on the way this morning.

Official sources said that incident took place when passenger bus loaded with pilgrims was on way to Jammu from Mata Vaishnodevi, Katra. When the vehicle reached near Bain Nallah, the rear part of the bus suddenly caught fire. The passengers noticed smoke coming out of the wires and back portion and started crying.
The driver stopped the bus and jumped out. The passengers also jumped out in hurry. Later, the people of the area rushed towards the bus for rescue and tried to extinguish the fire. By the time a fire tender from Katra also reached the spot and doused the fire completely. Short circuit was suspected to be the reason behind the incident. All the passengers remained safe. However, the police has taken cognizance.
