David Kramaley, co-founder of Chessable, joins Chessiverse

In unity there is strength, and that is why we celebrate David Kramaley joining Chessiverse. David will play a key role in helping Chessiverse realize its vision of creating the world’s most realistic chess bots. His expertise will be crucial to our efforts to make gameplay feel more human-like and less mechanical.

In the past, playing chess online and without another player made the game very tedious. After a couple of games, players were able to predict what moves the computer was going to make, as it was a mechanical system, lacking dynamism and not very surprising, but this has changed with the technological introduction that Chessiverse has made to the market.

Have you ever imagined the possibility of playing chess online and having it feel like you are playing with a real person? Well, it is possible, and that’s just what Chessiverse is doing. Now, with the addition of Kramaley, they have made the perfect team to make your game more fun and entertaining. Interested in learning more about Chessiverse and David Kramaley’s entry into the project? If so, read on, because here we tell you all the details of this partnership.

Who is David Kramaley?

Before we dive into Chessiverse, first you have to meet David Kramaley. He is the co-founder of Chessable and one of the most influential names in chess today. Chessable was a startup teaching people how to play Chess, but in a different way. It used science and repetition in order to fix certain patterns and tactics. It was acquired by the World Champion in 2019. Undoubtedly, a method that was gaining more and more followers due to its originality and, of course, its good results. Yes, fun was also one of the main features. Ideas that should never be lost because they work and because they offer so much more thanks to technology and the passion of anyone who wants to get into the world of chess. It doesn’t matter how much experience you have because you will always make progress with the help of the experts.

David Kramaley’s input into Chessiverse has been instrumental in its development. He has been part of discussions of very relevant ideas for the development of a new feature called PersonaPlay that has turned the online chess playing experience around for users all over the world.

The reason David decided to join Chessiverse is because he believed that the bots on sites that had been around for some time were not capable of capturing the realism of a human-made chess game. With the introduction of the Chessiverse PersonaPlay feature, playing against a computer is not the same as it was 10, 5 or 1 years ago. Now every opponent is realistic and has a completely different personality.

What is Chessiverse?

We have talked about Chessiverse before, but in an excessively superficial way. The truth is that this is a platform for playing chess, but it is not like the rest. It is a complete departure from traditional online chess against a computer that’s lacking in multiple aspects compared to a human opponent.

What has made Chessiverse different from all its opponents is that it has introduced the latest advances in AI to create a gaming platform where users can play with opponents who are intelligent, dynamic, strategic and possess an individual personality. In no case will there be predictable moves, but every game is different. The bots you’ll be playing with are not like any other. In fact, there are over 500 of them and each one has been created individually. As you play you’ll notice that they have distinct styles, different opening books and a strategy that is different every time, with no repetitive and predictable patterns.

PersonaPlay, innovation in chess

Introducing the new PersonaPlay feature in Chessiverse has not been easy, as it has required a lot of work, but it was the breakthrough the platform needed. It is now possible to play dynamically, avoiding the conventional stress of chess games that are very predictable, as each of the games is very realistic.

Thanks to PersonaPlay, users can not only play and have fun, but will also be able to hone their skills, practice, learn and improve the strategy with which they play. The same user can experience different styles of play, moving from one bot to another, which makes playing much more human, and less mechanical.

What Chessiverse has done with this feature is to reinvent the way chess bots play. They have managed to give more humanity and dynamism to the way the game is played so that users will never get bored. To make the playing experience unique, this feature includes:

  • Neural Networks: PersonaPlay’s 500+ bots have a different neural network, giving each character a different play style.
  • Opening Books: Opening books are created for each bot. These are created from real game experiences. Thus, the way the bots act will be consistent yet unpredictable.
  • Behaviour: Each bot has a different behaviour and character. You may find that some are slower than others, they sometimes make mistakes, some bots have a tendency to quit, or their play style is inconsistent or weak.
  • Real ratings: No more inflated ratings! The bots are calibrated through millions of games and are continuously fine-tuned to provide the most accurate ratings possible.
  • Personalities: The bots at the beginning lacked personality and were too mechanical. But now each one feels like a different human being that creates a unique and quirky personality.

In David’s own words, it is clear to us how successful this unprecedented adventure has been: “For me, the bots on sites like chess. com and others just don’t capture the realism of human play; that’s why Chessiverse is so important. Chessiverse allows players to face bots that think and act more like real opponents, making it a far more rewarding place to play and improve your game.”
