JAMMU, Oct 5: The office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Jammu and Kashmir has directed all the District Election Officers (DEOs) to stop one increment of those employees who are found involved in canvassing in the recently concluded Assembly elections in the UT post verification of the complaints filed against them.

Further, it has been directed that an official entry be made in the service records of such employees so that a strong deterrent is set against future violations.
“I am directed to convey that the cases of all the employees against whom the complaints of involvement in election campaigning were received during Model Code of Conduct period and were placed under suspension for their involvement on preliminary scrutiny, be scrutinised thoroughly and in proven cases one increment of the employees be stopped and entry made in their service book so that a strong message goes to them and other like minded employees,” read an order issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Jammu and Kashmir to the DEOs.
“The same shall act as a deterrent for them and other employees to desist from involvement in political campaigning in future.”
