Bovine smuggler hurt in police action

SAMBA, Oct 7: Bovine smugglers attacked a police party in Phulpur area of Samba district late last night. Police also retaliated and one smuggler got injured in counter attack.
Police said according to the information received, on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, police chased a vehicle involved in bovine smuggling in an attempt to seize it, but the smugglers fled with the vehicle. They also broke a check naka in the border area of Phulpur and fled towards Rakh Barotia. Reaching Rakh Barotia people of Gujjar community started pelting stones on police, while police also retaliated in which one smuggler of Gujjar community got injured.
Police also fired some bullets in the air to disperse the crowd, after which all the people fled from the spot. The injured smuggler is undergoing treatment in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, who has been identified as Farman Ali resident of Rakh Barotia. In this regard, the police have taken up the matter and started further action and have identified the attackers and the bovine smugglers in the vehicle and soon all of them will be arrested and action will be taken against them under the law.
