Protest over derogatory remarks

POONCH, Oct 7: On the call of some religious, political and social leaders, people in tehsil Mandi today held protest over derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) used by Yati Narsinghanand Saraswati and urged Government to take cognizance.
After a controversial statement on Prophet (PBHU), protests were held in many parts of the region. Several religious and social leaders held a meeting last evening and decided to hold protest today in Mandi, following which all shops in main market remained closed, traffic movement was suspended for some time.
Pertinent to mention here that all people initially gathered at Bus Stand Mandi, where religious, political and social leaders expressed their view. Later, in the shape of a procession, people reached near tehsil Complex Mandi where, religious scholars and other responsible people gave memorandum to Tehsildar Mandi and a complaint to SHO Mandi.
Maulana Syed Shahid Bukhari (Imam Jamia Masjid Aalapir) and other leaders said that we have urged Government through this memorandum to make a law through Parliament to keep check on such acts.
