Bakaya’s concern over rejection of large scale M Forms

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Apr 25: NC MLC Vijay Bakaya has expressed his deep shock over the large scale rejection of M Forms of migrants by election authorities.
In a statement issued here today Mr Bakaya said that many voters had to come out of polling booths in Jammu without casting their votes because their names did not figure in voter lists despite the fact that they had filed up M Forms in time.
While questioning the system of rejection of M Forms for migrants, Mr Bakaya demanded that people be told that at what level these forms are rejected and Election Commission should reassure the migrant voters that the rejection of M Forms is done on the basis of objective criteria and the process is not left to the discretion of junior functionaries of the election office.
Bakaya demanded that  a transparent system be put in place immediately for accepting and scrutinizing  M Forms and the voter be informed in time about the reasons for rejection of his Form and be given time to make any correction that may be required to be done in the filling up of the information.
He appealed the EC to have a review of the system of M Forms to make it simplified and ensure that the Kashmiri migrants are not deprived of their democratic right to vote.
