DB upholds life-imprisonment in murder case

JAMMU, Apr 26: Division Bench of High Court comprising Justice Virender Singh and Justice Janak Raj Kotwal has upheld the life-imprisonment awarded to two persons in a murder case and acquitted another.
According to the police case, on February 25, 1986 the accused persons namely Karan Singh and Sham Singh killed Tilak Raj of RS Pura over old rivalry. On this police registered a case and after completion of the investigation challan was presented in the court of law. The Trial Court awarded life-imprisonment to all the accused.
The convicted persons then filed an appeal against the life-imprisonment awarded by the then Sessions Judge Jammu on November 12, 1994.
After hearing both the sides, Division Bench found no merit in the appeal to the extent of conviction and sentence of Karan Singh and Sham Singh and upheld the life-imprisonment awarded by the trial court. However, the DB acquitted Parveen Singh of the charges leveled against him.
