JAMMU, Oct 14: For the inspection of substations’ equipment healthiness, the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) in collaboration with IIT Kanpur has developed a unique first of its kind all terrain robot.
The new robot has been developed at SMSS Lab, IIT Kanpur and field tested at 400 kV Kanpur substation of POWERGRID.
The new technology will revolutionize the way, substation equipment inspections are conducted, ensuring safer operations and avoid repetitive routine maintenance manually.
Designed to navigate through complex environment with precision and agility, the robot boasts advanced sensors and imaging capabilities.
The Robot is equipped with an array of sensors such as high definition visual, infrared thermal, stereo cameras and LiDAR etc. that can automatically detect anomalies and potential faults in equipment.
