REASI, Oct 16: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan on Wednesday presided over the Block Diwas event at Panchayat Porakotla, TRC Ransoo, Block Pouni.
The event saw active participation from local residents, who raised several demands and issues of public importance like improved roads, staff shortage, power supply etc
In response to the community’s concerns, DDC assured the public that all genuine demands would be taken up with the relevant authorities for prompt action. He instructed sectoral officers to conduct special awareness and registration camps under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), employment initiatives, and other Government schemes. He urged the locals to actively participate in these programs and take advantage of the opportunities available to them.
DDC directed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to place two ambulances—one on the Ransoo track and another at the Primary Health Center (PHC) in Sangar—to ensure timely medical assistance in the area.
He tasked Chief Education Officer (CEO) and District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) to inspect areas within a 20 km radius that currently lack high school facilities. They will move proposals  for schools in the region to meet the region’s educational needs.
Later, DDC inaugurated an animal husbandry first aid center at Ransoo. He also emphasised the potential of developing Gulzar Ikhani as a tourist destination, which could significantly boost the region’s economy. He also emphasized the importance of promoting the Guchhi mushroom trade, Additionally, the DDC instructed officials to verify BPL and APL ration cards to ensure that the benefits are reaching the right people.
The Block Diwas event provided a platform for direct interaction between the administration and the public. Event was attended by DDC Members, GM DIC Mohd Anwar Banday, ACR Anshumali Sharma, ACD Pardeep Kumar, ASP Iftikhar and other concerned officers.
