BJP to perform role of healthy opposition: Sat

‘Cong losing ground across country’

JAMMU, Oct 16: BJP working president and former Minister, Sat Sharma today said that first Assembly election after the abrogation of controversial Article 370 and 35 A was held in J&K under one National Flag and it was the victory of BJP’s stand on `Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan and Ek Pradhan’.
Commenting on Government formation in the UT after NC leader Omar Abdullah was sworn in as first Chief Minister of J&K UT, Sat Sharma said that credit for restoration of peace in trouble torn Kashmir goes to BJP Government at Centre led by Narendra Modi. He said it is a victory for BJP that there was a massive participation of the people in Assembly elections.
“It is not the question who came to power and who not but for us it is matter of great satisfaction that democracy has won in J&K and credit for this goes to PM Modi and Home Minister, Amit Shah.
Sat Sharma said the BJP’s performance was ever good in this election in the J&K as party besides getting 29 seats got 26 percent vote percentage which is higher than NC.
He said BJP will play a healthy role of Opposition in the Assembly and it will act as watchdog of people’s Constitutional rights. He said during last 10 years Modi Government worked sincerely in creating peaceful atmosphere in Kashmir and the strikes, bandhs and stone pelting are things of past now.
The record number of tourists visited Valley besides G-7 Summit was held successfully n Kashmir which was the great achievement of the Government’s sincere efforts for creating a healthy atmosphere in Kashmir, he said.
Sat Sharma expressed the hope that the new Government will work for the development and progress of both regions and take forward the peace initiative launched by Modi Government and work for welfare of the people of the UT. “We hope that peace will prevail in J&K and all people are taken along without any disparity and discrimination,’’ he added.
He said for BJP nation is first, party second and self last and we are committed to this principle.
Taking a jibe at Congress, he said the party has lost ground all over the country. They tried hard to get place in Omar Abdullah Government but their hopes were dashed to ground after CM did not agree to give any ministerial berth to its pre poll alliance partner, he added.
Sat said the fissures were visible in NC- Congress alliance during Assembly poll campaigning when the Omar Abdullah has said that Congress has lost its ground. He however said it is their internal issue as the two parties are pre poll alliance partners.
He said the Congress faced rout in Haryana and it will face the same fate in Jharkhand and Maharashtra elections too.
