Blacktopping of road from GMC to Canal Head to start within days: Arvind

JAMMU, Oct 18: MLA Jammu West, Arvind Gupta today said that he will ensure that blacktopping of the road from Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu to Canal Head (Bakshi Nagar) is started within few days.
Gupat said this while interacting with reporters during an extensive tour of Bakshi Nagar area today. He inspected the deplorable condition of the road stretch from the Medical College to Canal Head Bakshi Nagar, which has been plagued by massive potholes, making it difficult for commuters and residents.
During the tour, Executive Engineer PWD Medical Division Sandeep Gupta, AEE Vikas Bhardwaj, Dr Deepka Kapoor (chairman PoJK), Mandal president Atul Bakshi, Market Association president Amit Gupta, Raj Kumar, several prominent persons and party workers accompanied the MLA.
Expressing concern over the deplorable state of the road, Arvind Gupta asked the Executive Engineer to prioritize the blacktopping of the road without any further delay. He emphasized the need for swift action to improve the condition of the road, fulfilling his commitment made during the election campaign.
“During the election campaign, the people of area raised their concerns about the poor condition of this road. I had assured them that after the Assembly polls, this road would be blacktopped on priority. I stand by my promise and will ensure that it is carried out within week’s time,” Arvind added.
Besides, Arvind Gupta also called upon the Executive Engineer of Jammu Municipal Corporation (Electric Division) Simran Pal Singh and AEE Ranjay Gupta and asked them to submit a detailed report on the functioning and non-functioning of street lights across all wards of West Constituency. He also directed the XEn to install new street lights from Gurudwara Bakshi Nagar to the Rehari area.
Later, Arvind Gupta also held a meeting with the AEE of Jal Shakti Department, Sub-Division Bakshi Nagar Sanjeev Gupta and JEE Naresh, and laid stress upon the need to ensure clean and regular drinking water supply in the affected areas of Jammu West.
