Tata Mobile plunges into gorge; 2 killed, 9 injured

RAMBAN, Apr 28: Two persons including a woman were killed while nine others seriously injured when the Tata Mobile they traveling in plunged into a deep gorge near Marog on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK02F-9135 carrying twenty-two persons was on its way to Srinagar from Jammu, when the driver lost control over the steering resulting the vehicle plunging into 40-feet deep gorge near Magon causing grievous injuries to eleven persons.
On getting information, police, locals, Red Cross Volunteers and Army personnel rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
The injured were treated by the nursing assistants of Army on the spot and later rushed to District Hospital Ramban, where doctors declared Zareena Begum, wife of Mohammad Ishaq and Anwar Ali, son of Mohammad Rafi, both residents of tehsil Kalakote, district Rajouri as brought dead.
Later, three injured were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for advanced treatment.
The injured have been identified as Gulshan Abana (12), daughter of Mohammad Rafi, Mohammad Ishaq (90), son of Mohammad Khan, Shabir Ahmed (22), son of Nazir Ahmed, Mohammad Razaq (15), son of Nazir Ahmed, Mohammad Shafi (35), son of Mohammad Sonia, Mohammad Maqbool (18), son of Mohammad Irshad, Rabeena Bano (16), daughter of Nazir Ahmed and Ghulam Qadir (18), son of Fateh Mohammad, all residents of Tehsil Kalakote, district Rajouri.
The bodies of the deceased were handed over to family members for last rites after completing legal formalities.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, District Administration has announced cash relief of Rs 5,000 for deceased and Rs 2,000 for injured.
