JAMMU, Oct 21: Sudershan Singh Wazir, Chairman, Sikh United Front J&K and other Sikh organizations J&K have expressed their gratitude to Chief Minister of J&K UT Omar Abdullah for giving more than due representation to legislators belonging to Jammu region in the recently constituted Cabinet.
While addressing a press conference here today Wazir thanked people who have expressed their resounding faith in National Conference and the alliance during the recently held Assembly elections. He complimented all those progressive thinking people who have voted decisively in favor of a secular alliance and have shown the door to the communal forces.
He said people of Jammu looking upon the new Government headed by Omar Abdullah for redressal of their grievances especially the issues like unemployment, development of infrastructure, the plight of the Government sector, educational institutions, private sector of education, establishment of industry in J&K and also promote tourism in Jammu province.
With regards to demands put forth by Sikh community during past few years Wazir appealed to Chief Minister to immediately introduce Punjabi as an official language apart from the other specific issues like unemployment among the Sikh youth and also requested for expediting the permanent settlement issues of PoJK refugees.
Wazir further said that past few years have been the worst of times during which the common man has suffered in every sphere of life and business. He further expressed his confidence that the Chief Minister will also establish a Minority Commission in J&K as promised in the National Conference manifesto at the earliest.
Wazir assured the fullest cooperation of the Sikh community to the present Government and demanded that union Government should immediately fulfill its promise of restoring Statehood to the J&K. He also requested new Government to restore the Darbar move at the earliest so that the business activity and the communal divide between the regions gets diluted.
Several members of the organisations including Darbinder Singh from SAD, Kuldeep Kour,Rajinder Singh. Ravinder Singh, Mohinder Singh, Kulwant Singh and others were also present.
