JAMMU, Apr 29: Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department, Satish Nehru alongwith Director, Urban Local Bodies, Jammu, K L Khajuria today visited Municipal Committee Akhnoor and Sunderbani to have on spot inspection of various schemes under implementation in these Municipal Committees particularly Centrally sponsored schemes UIDSSMT.
During the visit various deputations met the Secretary and putforth their demand for further improvement of civic amenities and sanitation in these areas.
At Akhnoor, he inspected the ongoing community hall, shopping complex besides other construction works being carried under UIDSSMT schemes. During the inspection a slab being laid on illegal structure raised near Petrol Pump Akhnoor was demolished on spot on the directions of Secretary. .
The Secretary also conducted detailed inspection of Main Bazaar, Sabzi Mandi, Bus Stand and Community Hall at Sunderbani and directed the officers to take up the work of premixing at Main Bazaar Sunderbani besides improvement of side drains. He also inspected the Main Nallah passing through the Sunderbani town where construction work is going on under UIDSSMT Scheme and also inspected water filtration plant constructed under UIDSSMT at an estimated cost of Rs. 10.00 crore likely to be commissioned very soon. During the visit, the Executive Officer Sunderbani was directed to remove all the encroachments in Main Bazaar.
The team of officers of the department who accompanied the Secretary included K.L.Khajuria Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, Executive Engineer of Local Bodies Division-I and Executive Officers Sunderbani & Akhnoor respectively.
