LG to chair UHQ meeting today

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, today directed for stringent measures to tighten the security around key infrastructure projects and construction camps in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sinha directed this to security forces during a review meeting at Raj Bhawan held on the security situation in Kashmir in the aftermath of the major militant attack in Gangangir on Z-Morh construction site at Ganderbal leaving a Kashmiri doctor and six migrant workers dead.

The LG asked the police officials to ensure stringent measures to tighten the security grid around key infrastructure projects and construction camps for the safety of workers.
Sinha stressed upon establishment of mechanisms for regular coordination meetings with project implementing agencies for the security of the workers.
The LG directed the police to conduct security audit of infrastructure projects, round-the-clock nakas at the strategic points, night patrolling and area domination around the vital installations.
Sinha said the police must ensure a robust security and intelligence grid and intensified, well-planned joint operation with army and other security agencies to eliminate terrorism.
“The entire terror eco-system including perpetrators and those aiding and abetting terrorists requires to be completely dismantled,” he said.
The meeting was attended by Director General of Police, Nalin Prabhat; Principal Secretary, Home Department, Chandraker Bharti; Additional Director General of Police (Law & Order) Vijay Kumar; Additional Director General of Police, CID, Nitish Kumar; Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi; Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor, Dr. Mandeep Bhandari; Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and other senior officials.
In the meantime, the LG will chair a crucial Unified Headquarters (UHQ) meeting in Srinagar tomorrow to chalk-out the strategy to prevent attacks like Gangangir in future and ensure fool-proof security cover at all vital infrastructure sites across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting that will be held in Rajbhawan Srinagar comes just four days after the deadliest militant attack on the labourers at Gagangir, Ganderbal that left a doctor and six labourers dead and several others injured.
“Invitations have been extended to the DGP Nalin Prabhat, IGP Kashmir, ADGP J&K, GOC 15 Corps, head of BSF, CRPF and intelligence agencies. All the officers who are part of the security grid are expected to take part in the meeting.”
The focus in the meeting will be on Gagangir attack and how to prevent such attacks in future.
