JAMMU, Oct 25: The Union of Civic Safai Karamcharis (SKCs) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of their president, Rinku Gill.
The protesters raised demands like recruitment of pending 600 posts of SKCs which were advertised by JMC in 2018 and for which physical and practical tests were conducted in the year 2019 and 2021. The protesting SKCs demanded release of the final selection list in this regard immediately.
Their other demands included settlement of pending cases of SRO-43 in JMC and conduct of DPC of all cadres of employees of JMC.
The protesters also demanded finalization of Recruitment Rules of JMC as the Re-Organization Order was issued in 2022 but Recruitment Rules of JMC were still not finalized.
They also demanded amendment in the rules and 50 per cent quota should be kept reserved for departmental promotion in all the cadres of JMC.
Their more demands included allotment of new colonies for SKCs in JMC as the existing colonies are thickly populated and regularization of all colonies of SKCs which were given to them by the Government since 1957.
Implementation of old pension scheme in favour of all employees of JMC and 2.5 day salary to all field sanitation staff remained the other demand of the protesters.
While addressing the protesters, Rinku Gill said, as the department of Local Bodies is with newly elected Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, JMC employees hope that there shall be no discrimination with them and JMC will function like SMC where there is no involvement of NGO for appointing casual employees as is being done in JMC.
The protesters said that if their demands were not met soon then they may go for more aggressive agitation.
